You’ve got to stay here: the best literary themed hotels worldwide!

When we go on holiday we want to relax, try something new, and have a good time. Usually this means not spending an awful lot of time in the hotel. Most travellers I know don’t mind where they stay as long as it’s clean, comfortable and in a convenient location.

However, if where you stay is important to you and you like your hotels to have a literary flavour then here are four of the best from across the world:

Inn Boons Boro, Maryland, USA

If you fancy having a happy ending in the US then head to this quirky hotel. The ever romantic owner, novelist Nora Roberts, opened this hotel in 2009 and themed her rooms around famous literary couples.

Choose from classics such as the Elizabeth and Mr Darcy room from the Jane Austen novel, Pride and Prejudice and the Charlotte Bronte inspired, Jane and Rochester room. Don’t worry, there’s no madwoman in the attic!

The Hobbit Motel, Woodlyn Park, New Zealand

Who wouldn’t want to stay in the world’s first Hobbit hotel? The clever, hobbit-hole style units are self-contained, and have a beautiful contemporary design.

If you’ve always fancied getting cosy Hobbit style then now’s your chance, but you’ll probably have to bring your own magic rings!

Radisson Sonya Hotel, St Petersburg, Russia

If you’ve ever worked your way through Dostoyevsky’s classic novel, Crime and Punishment you’ll appreciate just how much work has gone into creating this hotel.

You’ll find it full of Russian opulence and literary references such as a work desk inspired by Dostoyevsky’s own writing desk. If you want to experience a real flavour of Russia through the eyes of someone who really knew it, this is the hotel for you.

The Library Hotel, New York, USA

Another great literary hotel from across the pond! This hotel is organised based on the Dewey Decimal system, something that any true bookworm will understand. Each floor has its own theme, and each room on that floor has its own topic within that theme. So you could find yourself staying on the Literature Floor in the Classic Fiction room.

The hotel also has its own Reading Room and Writer’s Den and Poetry Garden, making it such a paradise for bookworms I doubt you’ll want to venture out and explore the Big Apple!
